Shirts (5) |
Lightweight, quick-drying all-cotton
shirts are my personal preference. Simple colors/designs help ensure you
stick-out a little less. Low-cost button-downs from Walmart or Target work
fine, though if that’s beneath you then various other travel options are
available from
Amazon |

|
Long Pants (3 pair) |
I
recommend pants that are comfortable, light-weight, quick to dry, and
wrinkle-resistant. Long pants are preferred as they protect you from insects
and the elements…and as short pants are considered bizarre in many countries.
No-iron all-cotton khaki pants are a great choice, and to my surprise, the
best I’ve found are at Walmart. Many other options are
available from places like
Magellan's,
Exofficio,
and
TravelSmith.

Jacket (1) |
The need
here depends entirely on where you’re going and your style of travel. In
general, a light, non-descript windbreaker is a great choice. |
|
|
Socks (3 pair) |
If you’ll
be doing lots of walking or hiking, consider walking socks from someone like
Thorlo |
|
|
Shoes (1 -3 pair) |
Bring a
pair of walking or hiking shoes as appropriate – on my last trip I wore
Vasque |
|
|
Swimsuit (1) |
Can also
find on the road at any beach destination. |
|
|
Underwear (4 pair) |
Don’t leave
home without these… |
|
|
Belt (1) |
Should be
suitable for both day & evening. A reversible belt gives you more
flexibility. |
