Statue Of Liberty crown to reopen

It was announced today that as of July 4, 2009, visitors will once again be able to climb up into the crown of the Statue Of Liberty to enjoy the view of New York Harbor. The crown has been closed since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. A maximum of 10 visitors at a time will be allowed, and further details are not yet available. Summer in NYC on a budget

As any New Yorker knows, summer in the city is a time for free concerts, outdoor theater and spoken word events.

Central Park's SummerStage provides concerts, author readings and more throughout June, July and August, and all are either free or fairly inexpensive.

The New York Philharmonic has free concerts July 14-17 in parks throughout the city. The Metropolitan Opera performs on July 13, 17, 24 & 31 and on August 7 & 14.

The famous Shakespeare in the Park runs from June 9-July 12 (Twelfth Night)and August 11-September 6 (Bacchae).

Overall, summer is a fantastic time to visit NYC and take advantage of the amazing outdoor activities available to all.
