Many Travelers? Some

Bora Bora is one of the most spectacular islands in the South Pacific. Located in the Leeward Islands of French Polynesia, it may be quite a long trip for many travelers, but it is well worth it.

The scenery here is amazing, with a stunning combination of lush countryside, volcanic peaks, and gorgeous clear waters. The beauty of the landscape is perfect for honeymooners seeking some seclusion and can be quite inspiring for photo enthusiasts and artists.

There are some beautiful beaches here, with fine white sand and clear blue water. If you want to flop on the beach, this is one of the better places for it...in the world.

Fittingly, there are some absolutely spectacular hotels here, including the picturesque bungalow-over-water types of accommodation that has long been a popular shot in travel magazines.

This is a great destination for relaxing on the beach, snorkeling and scuba diving. Even novice snorkelers will enjoy the amazing sea life in the calm and colorful lagoon. Highlights include manta rays, and tours can be arranged to swim with sharks.

Also of interest to travelers may be Bora Bora’s archeological sites, which include the ancient temples called marae. Petroglyphs (rock carvings) can also be seen along the road. Shoppers will enjoy the painted pareos, tapa cloth, and black pearls. Nightly entertainment is limited to a traditional Polynesian folk show held at most hotels.

All of this does come at a price: it's expensive to get out here and to stay here. Budget travelers will struggle mightily here, but if you're accustomed to a travel style of luxury hotels, this is a place you'll love.

Travelers to Bora Bora include French tourists as well as Americans, and of course, honeymooners from all over the world. French and Tahitian is spoken here, and English speakers will not have any language difficulty in the hotels.

The best time to come here is May through October, when it’s dry and temperatures are comfortable. The rainy season runs from November to April, and during this time it can be wet, humid, and cloudy.
