Great Caribbean beach destination
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Dislikes: A bit expensive
Many Travelers? Some

Grand Cayman is a beautiful island that offers all of what travelers are often looking for in a Caribbean vacation: Long sandy beaches, great water activities, good shopping, and a little nightlife. It’s great for everything from lazing on the beach, to taking advantage of some of the world’s best scuba diving.

Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach is one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Seven Mile Beach is generally very clean, without the beach peddlers who can be an annoyance at some tropical beaches. There will be lots of people here, but with miles of beach to work with, you can still find a nice spot.

Georgetown, the capital, is a charming little village just south of Seven Mile Beach. This is a relaxing place to stroll, shop, and enjoy a seaside dinner. Here you can also watch the tarpon feeding, a popular evening event.

Lots of charming boats and catamarans sail around the island every day, and also offer sunset cruises that make for a very romantic and relaxing outing.

Scuba diving here can be exceptional. The water is around 80 degrees, visibility is up to 200 feet in the winter, and it’s possible to see sharks, rays, various colorful tropical fish, as well as wrecks and beautiful corals.

This is an upscale place with some wonderful hotels. If you’re a budget traveler, you’ll need to find another island. Locals are friendly, and everyone speaks English. It’s completely safe here and hassle-free.

It’s well worth staying out here for a week or so, and if you have more time, then consider a trip out to Little Cayman or Cayman Brac.

Winters (Dec-March) are warm and comfortable, with temperatures reaching the 70’s and 80’s. May to October is the rainy season. It gets into the 90s in summer, with risk of hurricanes from June to November.
