Fantastic island getaway
Likes: One of America’s best and most beautiful beaches; luxury accommodations The weather is gorgeous year round and water conditions are ideal for water sports of all kinds. Golf enthusiasts will find that the area has a great deal to offer with two gorgeous, 18-hole championship golf courses at the Ka‘anapali Golf Resort. Those in the mood for some pampering can avail themselves of the many luxurious, world-class spa facilities. Couples will enjoy taking a stroll along the beach and watching the sunset. Ka‘anapali Beach, a gorgeous, 3-mile long stretch of white sand, was named America’s Best Beach in 2003. A paved concrete path runs along the entire length of the beach. Near the middle of the Ka‘anapali Beachwalk, lies the Whalers Village, an open-air mall with over 90 shops and restaurants and a free museum that features whaling exhibits and artifacts. Dining options include some 40 restaurants and a number of hotel luaus with dinner shows. The area can get crowded, especially in the summer (lots of kids), and accommodations are pretty expensive. Couples and newlyweds looking for a romantic tropical getaway should avoid the summer months when the beaches and resorts are packed with families on vacation. There’s not a lot to do at night, although there are an assortment of bars and nightclubs open until late on the weekends in nearby Lahaina, only a short drive away. For most, a three night stay will be sufficient, but if you’re in need of more rest and relaxation then you’ll want to give it longer. When to go to Kaanapali
